I'm using SQL Sentry Plan Explorer Build 6.2.39.0 (great product by the way, thank you for making it available for free !)
When I launch the app or click the "Check for updates" option from the help menu, I get an error dialog that says ...
There was a problem retrieving the latest build number. Error: One or more errors occured. If you continue to have this problem, contact technical support for assistance.

Is it possible that you can't reach our servers for some reason due to connectivity issues, or firewall or proxy rules? The server that is checked for newer versions is licensing.intercerve.com - see if you have troubles running a tracert to that address (disregard any timeouts, just want to validate that it will try, and not give an "Unable to resolve..." error message).

Tracert results are ...
C:\Users\jsr>tracert licensing.intercerve.com Tracing route to licensing.intercerve.com [174.141.41.101] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 * * * Request timed out. 2 * * * Request timed out. <snip> 29 * * * Request timed out. 30 * * * Request timed out. Trace complete.
My network guy tells me that the proxy is not blocking licensing.intercerve.com

JSR,
It sounds like you can ping the URL no problem, which eliminates any DNS or connectivity issues. Next can you try to hit this WSDL in a web browser:
https://licensing.intercerve.com/VersionCheck.asmx?wsdl
I suspect that your proxy is not allowing you to reach this URL (from an app or a browser), either because of the URL itself (unlikely) or because it is using SSL (more likely).
Please let me know the results.
Thanks, Aaron

Problem is resolved, according to my network guy, it was related to an SSL issue on our firewall using MS Forefront. Thanks for your help and thanks again for making SQL Sentry Plan Explorer available for free !
